Tiivistelmä
Tässä diplomityössä tarkastellaan yksilöitävän laitetoimitusprojektin osaprosessin kehitystä virtausmallin avulla. Työn tavoitteena on kuvata kohdeyrityksen alustamuutosprosessin informaation ja tuotosten virtausta, luoda näiden pohjalta prosessin virtausmalli sekä etsiä prosessista kehityskohteita. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltava prosessi on Bronto Skyliftin nostolavalaitteiden alustamuutos, jossa tehdasvalmisteiset kuorma-auton alustat valmistellaan nostolavakäyttöä varten.
Tutkimuksen tuloksena syntynyt virtausmalli soveltuu varauksin vahvasti räätälöitävän prosessin kehitykseen. Yksittäistapausta tutkittaessa kohdeyrityksen muiden toimitusprojektien sisältämiä haasteita ei välttämättä havaita. Pelkästään yksittäistapaustutkimuksen perusteella on haastavaa arvioida mahdollisesti esiintyvien informaatiosilmukoiden vaikutusta muiden toimitusprojektien informaatiovirtaukseen. This master’s thesis focuses on development of a sub-process in ETO-project with an information flow model. The main goal of this research is to describe the flow of information and deliverables, create an information flow model and use the model in process development. The process in question prepares truck chassis’ to be used with Bronto Skylift aerial platforms.
Development of design and manufacturing processes requires thorough understanding of the process. Information about the chassis modification process in the commissioning company is mainly stored as a tacit knowledge between experienced designers. One of the goals of this thesis is to store this tacit information and use it in process development as well as in daily functions. The information is stored to a process chart and a flow model.
Literature review of this research focuses on the methods and theories relevant to constructing and utilizing the information flow model. The goal is to provide the reader with sufficient knowledge for flow model creation and direct into thinking production as a flow. Literature review is not bound to the target company or process.
Research was conducted as a qualitative and explanatory case study. Information flow model of the target process was created by examining a delivery project of the target company. The information elements of the case study and their interdependencies were collected with the project chief engineer. The flow model was constructed using DiMo-software.
Optional process sequence is constructed by restructuring the current state flow model. Bottlenecks and potential optimizations were found by comparing the two models and design structure matrices.
Information flow model that is created during this research can be used in ETO-projects but not without limitations. There is no certainty that all possible bottlenecks were found with this single-case study. It is also difficult to estimate the effects of information loops present in this study regarding other projects’ information flow.
