The goal of this thesis was to study the well-being at work of the employees of two Shell petrol stations. Since well-being at work is such a broad subject, the study was split into different subcategories. This way the strengths and weaknesses in well-being could be found. One aspect in this study was also the performance target of the extra sales at the gas stations and its effect on work motivation and well-being.
The theory section explains the term well-being at work and its subcategories, how well-being at work is studied and developed in organizations and performance bonuses in brief. The study was carried out on Webropol platform. Qualitative and quantitative methods were combined in the study. There were a total of 28 questions, most being scalar questions but also some yes/no and open questions were used. 11 workers filled in the questionnaire.
According to the study, the well-being at work at the selected gas stations was satisfactory, but there was also some dispersion in the answers. The well performing sub-categories were the interestingness of work, workload, know-how and support from supervisors. The subcategories with room for improvement included work safety and how well the workers could fit the work to their free time. The study could be utilized in developing the well-being at work at the client organization or in conducting further studies in this field.
