The thesis work analyzed several projects of green affordable housing that were recently completed to find and evaluate the solutions implemented in these projects that increase their affordability and quality and reduce the environmental impact. The need for affordable housing in the large cities is growing and so are the construction rates of such housing and the consequences of climate change are becoming more significant every year, therefore, it is important to consider the environmental impact of such housing.
A central part of the research is a case study. The paper also provides background information on the topics of affordable housing and environmental impact from housing.
Effective practices of the environmental impact reduction and improvement of quality of affordable housing projects are found and are presented in the paper. Proposals for improvement of the future projects based on the background information and analysis of the cases are presented.
