Tiivistelmä
This thesis aims to examine the impact of technological convergence, digitalization, and Industry 4.0 on various automated industries. By examining the intersection between convergence of technology and Circular Economy practices. This thesis further attempts to form a proposal for a collaboration basis between manufacturing industries and mechanical engineering educators that are both agile and reflective of current technological trends impacting both human and society through manufacturing. The period studied in this thesis falls between the past 10 years and the next 10-year forecasts. Data has been collected from secondary sources provided by Statista, a market research analysis firm specializing in market and consumer data via surveys, and relevant companies’ annual financial reports. This thesis challenges industry, educational institutions, and legislators to form systematic, collaborative, and symbiotic relationships to accelerate the innovation of new and existing technologies, hence mitigating the slow adoption of these technologies.
