Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön teemana on käytännönläheinen toimintatapojen uudistus.
The theme of the thesis is a practical approach for the reform of operating methods.
As the subscriber is the Paviljonki Exhibition and Events Center, whose event-producing body merged from two separate limited companies during the thesis process. In connection with the fusion, a comprehensive operational reform has been initiated in the company. Due to this, there is a need to unify and develop the working methods of sales personnel. The agenda for this thesis is to meet this need by developing tools for the use of the sales personnel in the subscriber company.
As methods of development work, I used observation, brainstorming, benchmarking and a group interview. I studied the organization by making observations using the subscriber's internal materials. The sales staff of the subsscriber organization participated in the brainstorming session. During the brainstorming session, employees came up with ideas for developing practical tools for themselves. The purpose of the benchmarking was to outline the working methods and the use of tools in similar organizatons. During the benchmarking part, I was in contact with five operators in the industry, four of whom are engaged in event production in Finland, and one works in a customer relationship management position in the event industry in Denmark. In the group interview phase, the sales staff and the marketing and communications manager of the subscriber organization evaluated the developed tools based on the demos I made, and presented ideas for further development. With the help of background research and communal methods, a toolkit for the sales staff was developed, which includes revamped offer templates, a subcontracting bank and a visual catalog of the subscriber’s products and services. In addition to the tools, the subscriber is presented with further development ideas to renew the operating methods of the sales service.
In this thesis, I describe the tool development process, as well as the observations that emerged during this thesis about the development of useful tools and operating methods.
