Suomalaisessa harrastustoiminnassa on jo pit- kään näkynyt eriarvoisuuden kasvaminen, mikä laittaa seurat pohtimaan uusia ansaintakei- noja.
Kouvoilla on runsaasti osaamista yritysyhteistyössä.
Kouvoilla on hyvät mahdollisuudet rakentaa arvoliittolai- suutta ydintoimintansa ympärille. Abstract
The objective of this thesis was to find out if the junior operations of basketball club Kouvot have the potential to new corporate sponsorship through shared values partnership. In this thesis, the current state of affairs was examined through need and competence. Additionally, the importance of corporate sponsorship income as well as the club’s ability to form shared values partnerships were researched. Whether more sponsorship money could be attracted through this shared values partnership was the key research problem.
The junior operations of Kouvot have grown over the last few years and the club’s purpose has become clearer. The quality as well the club’s level of professionalism have increased. At the same time, expenses have increased which has lead to increased fees for the players. In the Finnish youth sports, there has been a trend of growing inequality recently, which is forcing the clubs new means for income.
Kouvot possess a lot of know-how in corporate partnerships. The senior operations already rely heavily on sponsorship income, but for the juniors cases are much less sophisticated. Kouvot have many partners who have stayed loyal for years, but so far the club has failed to extend those partnerships to juniors. The values associated with junior sports correlate well with the corporate social responsibility. Also, junior sports provide the customer segment of the juniors’ parents who share the same values and interests.
A structured theme interview was conducted as the research method for the qualitative re- search. Three different questionnaires were used. The first questionnaire was for the club’s general manager Jari Hautala, the second for Risto Oksanen, the development manager for Sponsorointi ja Tapahtumamarkkinointi Ry and the third for four different companies in the Kymenlaaksoareawhichareallsignificantsponsorsforvarioussportsclubsandteams. The company interviews were analyzed using the above-mentioned themes.
The results indicate that companies wish to be responsible, carry their social responsibility and participate in junior sports. Junior sports is considered valuable. There is also a shared understanding in sponsorship that a brand is not built overnight. Companies expect to receive value for their money and demand high quality from their partners. Kouvot have an excellent opportunity to form shared values partnerships around their core operations.
