Both clinical skills and non-technical skills are an important part of safety in emergency care. Main part of medical malpractices occurs from humane mistakes, that can be caused from weak communication and wrong information. Adverse events could be often prevented by using non-technical skills which are for example proper communication, awareness of the situation and CRM consideration.
Non-technical skills and CRM has been developed to improve communication and to assure that the right information has been transmitted. The aspiration is to minimize the possibility of adverse events. The purpose of this thesis is to produce an educational video based on literature review to concretize the methods of these non-technical skills when performing emergency care by main reason for care and instructions of treatment.
In this thesis both work safety and patients safety in emergency care are about to be addressed when non-technical skills and CRM consideration is in the focus. Thesis is the third and the final part of entirety of assignments which are handling one patient case beginning from arriving to the situation and ending to performing care by the instructions of treatment. This thesis focuses on performing emergy care by main reason for care and instructions of treatment.
This thesis was executed as a functional thesis. As a product of the assignment was produced an educational video about safety of emergency care based on literature review. The video concretizes the procedures to perform non-technical skills and CRM when performing emergency care by the instructions of treatment. The thesis’ commissioner is Turku University of Applied Sciences in the co-operation with Southwest Finland Emergency Services. The video is about to be as the educational tool when teaching non-technical skills and CRM in emergency care.
