Tiivistelmä
With social progress and economic development, the improvement of people’s living standards and the pursuit of quality of life, tourism is developing rapidly. The tourism industry is taking up a larger part of the global GDP. The good development of tourism has a wide driving effect on regional economic development and is the leading industry of many local economic development.
The Belt and Road Initiative (OBOR) emphasizes the promotion of multiple forms of people-to-people exchanges with countries along the OBOR, which will bring convenience and opportunities for tourism. Finland as one of the countries along the OBOR, OBOR will promote and improve the tourism industry between China and Finland. This thesis will analyze how the Belt and Road Initiative will affect the tourism industry, how to increase the number of tourists from the two countries to each other on the basis of the current travel demand of the two countries’ residents.
The qualitative research method and inductive reasoning approach are used in this thesis. The data was collected from secondary and primary sources. The secondary sources were electronic articles, official releases, press releases, official statistics, and questionnaires. In the qualitative research method, 15 interviews were conducted, divided into three groups, as primary sources and then analyzed the answers to understand prevalent attitudes
The findings of the thesis show that there are still some problems with mutual tourism between China and Finland. Through the Belt and Road Initiative, tourism between China and Finland will be improved, and the number of tourists from the two countries to each other can be increased.
