Laadullinen tutkimus toteutettiin tammikuussa 2019 avoimella kyselylomakkeella sähköpostitse yrityksen esimiehille. Kyselylomakkeessa oli lueteltu erilaisia mentorointitapoja ja -rakenteita. Lomakkeessa pyydettiin esimiehiä kommentoimaan: toteutuuko mentorointi yhtiössä. Lomakkeessa pyydettiin myös perustelemaan vastaus. Kysely lähetettiin kaikille 9 esimiehelle, joista 5 vastasi kyselyyn määräajassa. Vastausprosentiksi tuli 56%.
The goal of this thesis was to sort out from the manager’s point of view which mentoring methods would be suitable to support orientation in bank-X. The company employs about 150 financial professionals in five different locations around Finland. The company offers customer service and quality process services to customers and branches of the bank-X.
There were a lot of major changes in the organization at the time of commissioning the research as the background companies operating across Finland merged into one big company.
Changes have been made in the job, in the number of staff, in managers and in the work environment. With the merger of the offices common service descriptions were created according to which the employees work in every location around Finland. As a result of the service descriptions support for the induction of both new and old employees and the retention of silent information became a problem in the research. Therefore, there was a need for research in the organization.
Qualitative research was carried out in January 2019 with an open questionnaire sent to the company’s managers. The questionnaire contained various mentoring habits and structures. In the questionnaire, the managers were asked to comment: will the mentoring come true in bankX. In the questionnaire managers were also asked to justify the answer. The questionnaire was sent to all 9 managers of which 5 replied to the questionnaire within the deadline. The response rate was 56%. The response rate was lower than desired.
Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that the different mentoring methods received a lot of interest and support from the managers. However, the interpretation of the answers was challenging because the answers were partly short and there were a lot of differences in the responses of the managers. Some of the mentoring methods were already in use in the units and some will be utilized in the future.
