Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to get a better insight in how children are affected by being in a custody process between child welfare and family, and also how staff experience the effects on the child. The central question formulations are if the custody have had negative consequences for the child, if the procedure have had an impact on the child and how professionals in that case can try to ease them for the child.
In the thesis theory part, we are writing generally about children's development and what a custody means. We also take into account what the effects of the custody on the child is and the role of the connection for the child. We also include a chapter on prevention work.
We have used a qualitative method. We have prepared interview questions that we have asked three professional respondents in Ostrobothnia, that have been in contact with child custody in different ways throughout their career. The result indicate that it is difficult to see on younger children how they concretely have been affected. However, there are signs that young children have been damaged by being separated from their parents, you can for instance see that in their connection to other people.
