In the thesis the four first phases of the customer’s buying process were presented. The target of the thesis was to examine how the customer acts before the decision of buying a car and also what influences the customer during the process. The market communication was then discussed with the buying process in mind. The supervisor of the thesis was Oy MB-Mobile Ab which is a car dealer in Kokkola. The company imports and sells used premium vehicles and also serves as a new car and service agency for Kia, Suzuki and Isuzu. The aim was to present the supervisor relevant theory and praxis that would serve as support for discussion and planning of the marketing.

Market communication and the communication channels were discussed from the point of view of the buying process. The chapter that covered market communication also discussed during which steps in the buying process the customer is most likely to be susceptible. With the influence phases and buying process in mind, important communication channels were highlighted.
The quantitative survey was done to examine how customers act in the process before the decision of buying a car. The company’s customer satisfaction was also shortly evaluated. The praxis was done as a web survey among the Facebook followers of the company together with a paper form in the store. The research found answers on how the need for a car arose, for how long and where the customers searched for information and what the customers felt influenced by during the buying process. The research also gave an estimation of the supervisor’s customer satisfaction.
