Tiivistelmä
Kehityshankkeen nimi oli ”Kiertotaloutta ruoantuotantoon – Biomassojen logistinen aluetarkastelu Järvi-Suomessa (JÄSTI)”. Hankkeen toteuttivat Lappeenrannan-Lahden teknillisen yliopiston LUT Bioenergian laboratorio ja Helsingin yliopiston Ruralia-instituutti. Hankkeen toteutusaika oli 1.6.2022–31.12.2023. Hanke toteutettiin EU:n maaseuturahaston tuella.
The development project was called “Circular economy for food production – Logistical regional review of biomasses in Lake Finland (JÄSTI)”. The project was carried out by the Bioenergy Laboratory of Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT and the Ruralia Institute of Helsinki University. The implementation period of the project was 1.6.2022–31.12.2023. The project was carried out with the support of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
In the Lake Finland area, the project mapped farm biomasses and the best locations in terms of their logistics for agriculture based on agroecological symbiosis (AES), where the production and use of raw materials and energy as well as nutrient recycling were planned to take place in a local and overall sustainable way. Biogas is a key form of energy in the AES concept to increase rural energy self-sufficiency and independence from fossil raw materials.
The project resulted in thematic maps covering the Lake Finland region, showing the potential of different parts of the region to form cooperation networks between operators in accordance with the AES concept. The aim of the project was to by means of research and through communication to increase the public knowledge base on the possibilities of circular and climate-efficient food production in Lake Finland.
