NUMO on algoritmin
numeerisen ratkaisun ja APPRO likiarvoratkaisun laskentayhtälö. Algoritmia
Algoritmin validiteetin
varmistamiseksi on mittauksia tehtävä lisää käytävillä, joiden absorptiomateriaalien
jakautumat poikkeavat toisistaan. The new JÄKÄLA algorithm is based on the symmetry of the image sources of the
real sound source in the corridor. There are three editing steps in the modification
of the image plane of a rectangular-shaped corridor having the ratio of crosssection
dimensions not more than one and half, into continuous sound power distribution.
First, an oblong-shaped image plane is converted to a square-shaped one. Next, the
equivalent power image sources of the square-shaped plane image are transferred
to a coordinate axis as a discrete image source string. Finally, the image source
string is converted to a continuous sound power distribution, and now the sound
level in the corridor can be calculated by integrating over the continuous sound
power distribution.
The accuracy of the formulae of the derived algorithm to predict sound levels in
long corridors were tested by comparing the sound the levels in the imaginary
ideal corridor reception points calculated with the derived formulae and those calculated
with commercial AKURI program with each other. In addition, noise measurement
results of four long corridors were compared with the sound levels calculated
by the algorithm formulae and the AKURI program. Both the theoretical calculations
and practical sound level measurements showed that the prediction accuracy
of the formulae were excellent in ideal corridors and good in corridors meeting
the structural postulates set for the corridor. In the reception points of the ideal imaginary and real corridors the calculation results
the NUMO integral formula of the JÄKÄLA algorithm and the AKURI program
differed about half a dB in all tested distances and values of the coefficient of
absorption. The APPRO formula reached the same accuracy, when the average absorption
coefficient of the corridor was 0,1or higher. In the reception points of real
corridors the measured sound levels and those calculated with the AKURI program
and the with NUMO and APPRO formulas differed at the most by one decibel
when the absorption coefficient of the corridor was 0,1 or greater. In a very hard
corridor with beams in the ceiling and pilasters on the walls, the greatest difference
between the measured sound level and the one calculated with the AKURI program
and NUMO formula was 2 dB in the middle of the corridor, and with the
APPRO formula 3,5 dB in the near field of the sound source. When comparing the
sound level calculation times of the reception points in a very hard corridor, it was
noticed that a desktop PC calculated the sound levels hundreds of times faster by
using the NUMO integral formula than by using the double sum formula of the
AKURI program.
In urgent contract and site negotiation situations, the NUMO and APPRO formulae
of the JÄKÄLA algorithm facilitate the evaluation of the effect of different
acoustic measures on the sound field in the corridor. With a quick "hand tool", unsuitable
acoustic options can be eliminated and the focus can be directed to further
development of the best option with heavier computational programs, when necessary.
This way the acoustic design can be controlled in real time, instead of making
detailed and possibly erroneous design work in advance. When using the NUMO
integration formula in an acoustic computer program, a lot of computing time
is saved, especially if the entire sound field of the corridor is wanted to be printed
by octave bands instead of the sound level of a single entry point.
