Tiivistelmä
From 1979 medical researchers worked with the World Health Organization in tracking levels and trends in coronary disease, stroke, and risk factors in men and women in 38 populations across 21 countries, of Europe, Asia, Australasia and North America. MONICA—MONItoring CArdiovascular disease—the most extensive medical research project ever, published its reports over two decades. This Monograph and Multimedia Sourcebook now brings everything together in 264 pages and two CD-ROMs. Richly illustrated in full colour, it describes the planning, people, institutions and populations involved, key hypotheses, how data were collected and analysed, and painstaking MONICA quality control. Abstracts of collaborative publications are republished, plus 80 dramatic graphics with detailed explanations of the principal findings.
