We derive quantum kinetic equations for mixing neutrinos including consistent forward scattering terms and collision integrals for coherent neutrino states. In practice, we reduce the general Kadanoff-Baym equations in a few clearly justified steps to a generalized density matrix equation that describes both the flavour- and particle-antiparticle coherences and is valid for arbitrary neutrino masses and kinematics. We then reduce this equation to a simpler particle-antiparticle diagonal limit and eventually to the ultra-relativistic limit. Our derivation includes simple Feynman rules for computing collision integrals with the coherence information. We also expose a novel spectral shell structure underlying the mixing phenomenon and quantify how the prior information on the system impacts on the QKE’s, leading to a direct effect on its evolution. Our results can be used for example to accurately model neutrino distributions in hot and dense environments and to study the production and decay of mixing heavy neutrinos in colliders.

Anomalies and sterile neutrinos : Implications of new theoretical results
Kostensalo, Joel; Suhonen, Jouni (American Institute of Physics, 2019)The reactor antineutrino and the gallium anomalies have been long unexplained. Possible explanations for both of these anomalies include new physics, such as the existence of one or more eV-scale sterile neutrino. However, ... -
Calculated solar-neutrino capture rate for a radiochemical 205Tl-based solar-neutrino detector
Kostensalo, Joel; Suhonen, Jouni; Zuber, K. (American Physical Society, 2020)Radiochemical experiments for low-energy solar-neutrino detection have been making headlines by exploiting the isotopes 37Cl and 71Ga. Such a very low-threshold measurement of this type can also be performed using 205Tl, ... -
Open-source QCD analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions at NLO and NNLO
Walt, Marina; Helenius, Ilkka; Vogelsang, Werner (American Physical Society, 2019)We present new sets of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) at next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order. Our analyses are based on deeply inelastic scattering data with charged-lepton and neutrino ... -

Many-particle theory for time-dependent quantum transport in nanostructures
Myöhänen, Petri (University of Jyväskylä, 2012)During the recent decades, molecular electronics has established its place as one of the promising fields in the nanoscience. The possibility to manufacture and control molecular junctions where single molecules are ...
