The nonstationary Maxwell system in domains with edges and conical points
Sergey Matyukevich on väitöskirjassaan tutkinut Maxwell-yhtälöä alueilla, joilla on kartiomaisia kärkiä ja teräviä särmiä. Erityisen huomion kohteena tutkimuksessa oli tutkia yhtälön ratkaisujen käyttäytymistä lähellä ns. singulaaripisteitä, joita epäsileät reunat aiheuttavat. Tutkimuksessa Matyukevich on johtanut ratkaisuille eksplisiittisiä, asymptoottisia laajennuksia alueen kartiomaisten kärkien ja terävien särmien ympäristössä.Tutkimuksen tuloksilla on merkitystä siinä, että niitä voidaan soveltaa useiden ei-stationaaristen sähkömagnetiikan yhtälöiden matemaattisessa ja numeerisessa analysoinnissa epäsileillä alueilla. We study the nonstationary Maxwell system in domains with conical points andedges. The system is endowed with two types of boundary conditions: conductiveand impedance. We consider both homogeneous and inhomogeneous boundaryconditions. Our main purpose is to study the behavior of solutions near the singularities. We derive the asymptotic expansions of solutions near the edges andconical points and obtain the explicit formulas for the coe_cients in the asymptotics. The asymptotics of solutions and the formulas for the coe_cients turnout to be of use in many applications. In particular, the results can be appliedin mathematical and numerical treatment of the problems of electrodynamics innonsmooth domains.

How much is enough? : The convergence of finite sample scattering properties to those of infinite media
Penttilä, Antti; Markkanen, Johannes; Väisänen, Timo; Räbinä, Jukka; Yurkin, Maxim A.; Muinonen, Karri (Elsevier, 2021)We study the scattering properties of a cloud of particles. The particles are spherical, close to the incident wavelength in size, have a high albedo, and are randomly packed to 20 % volume density. We show, using both ... -
Time-harmonic electromagnetics with exact controllability and discrete exterior calculus
Mönkölä, Sanna; Räbinä, Jukka; Rossi, Tuomo (Academie des Sciences, 2023)In this paper, we apply the exact controllability concept for time-harmonic electromagnetic scattering. The problem is presented in terms of the differential forms, and the discrete exterior calculus is utilized for spatial ... -
Comparative analysis of data stream processing systems
Zeb, Mian Shah (2020)Big data-käsittelyjärjestelmät ovat tällä hetkellä kehittymässä stream-orientoituneiksi, eli data käsitellään heti saapuessaan. Perinteisemmin data säilöttiin tietokantaan, tiedostopohjaisesti tai muuhun tiedonsäilytysjä ... -
Partial data inverse problems for Maxwell equations via Carleman estimates
Chung, Francis J.; Ola, Petri; Salo, Mikko; Tzou, Leo (Elsevier, 2018)In this article we consider an inverse boundary value problem for the time-harmonic Maxwell equations. We show that the electromagnetic material parameters are determined by boundary measurements where part of the boundary ... -
Funktionaaliset a posteriori virhe-estimaatit Maxwellin yhtälöille
Anjam, Immanuel (2010)Funktionaaliset a posteriori virhe-estimaatit ovat osoittautuneet luotettavaksi tavaksi arvioida osittaisdifferentiaaliyhtälöiden numeeristen ratkaisujen virhettä. Tässä tutkielmassa malliongelma on Maxwellin yhtälöistä ...
