Keusoten tavoitteena on vahvistaa yhteisöohjautuvuutta.
This thesis investigates the experience of work engagement and remote supervision of COVID tracers in the unit of infectious and contagious disease in Keusote during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The thesis examines how remote work and remote supervision affected the experience of work engagement.
The research method was qualitative. The data collection consisted of five interviews. All interviewees had worked as COVID tracers for at least a year. According to the COVID tracers, the experience of work engagement felt if they lost the track of time and were deeply immersed in the work. Interviewees felt motivated to come to work and they felt that their work was meaningful.
Regarding the remote supervisory work, the COVID tracers highlighted the importance of trust and the freedom to develop their own work. They also emphasized that the supervisors’ availability through different communication channels was important for them.
Keusote's goal is to strengthen the self-management of the work community. According to the results of this thesis, this goal was realized in COVID tracking. The community-driven COVID tracking team led, developed, and organized their activities together. The work was developed based on employee insights and change proposals. According to the experience of the COVID tracers, trust-based management strengthened the self-management of the work community, which increased the experience of work engagement. An employee who experiences work engagement is productive and willing to innovate, and this in turn strengthens the self-managed work community and trust.
This thesis concludes that when we direct attention to things that are well in work and which are supporting employees, we are on the right path that is confirm good feelings in working life.
