Emergence of new design trends, growing requirements to website responsiveness, unsatisfactory conversion rates, changed business strategy or branding policy, - any of these conditions can serve as a reason to redesign a business website.
The thesis reports on a case of business website redesign determined by a combination of the above-stated conditions. Within the thesis project, the WordPress based website of Alejandra Beauty Salon was redesigned. The new design was implemented through developing own WordPress theme named Alejandra2020.
Despite a large offer of Content Management Systems (CMS), WordPress remains the most popular one. About one-third of all websites are using WordPress software. The author questions expediency of adhering to WordPress CMS and developing own WordPress theme.
Hypothetico-deductive reasoning is applied as a research method. The hypothesis about a suitable development approach is based on literature review and the author’s previous experience. The hypothesis is verified through the project’s implementation and usability testing of the resulting product. The chosen web development approach is evaluated with account to the development process and discovered usability issues.
