The purpose of the research was to discover if the students of LAB University of Applied Sciences are making responsible choices when traveling. The main focus was on the traveling content. The research also introduces different ways towards more responsible tourism.
The theoretical part of this research was gathered utilizing both online and literature sources. This theory was used for analyzing the results from the empirical part. Data for this study was collected by themed interviews carried out at the university faculties. All except one were individual interviews where the author by using open-ended questions discussed different themes with the respondents. Altogether there were 14 respondents from five different nationalities.
The results of the research show that as a collective unit, students are somewhat responsible when traveling. However, as individuals, some areas could be developed. If more information on the topic was provided, different results may be discovered. Overall students showed interest in the topic of responsible tourism. Further research on the topic could be made with bigger sample sizes in order to make comparisons between different demographic groups.
