Tiivistelmä
Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kokeilla W-Rix Oy:n käyttämien muovista valmistettujen potkurien valmistamista 3D-tulostamalla ja epoksivaluna. 3D-tulostamista kokeiltiin, jotta potkurin geometrian muutosten testaaminen olisi edullisempaa ja nopeampaa sekä piensarjoina valmistaminen olisi edullista. Epoksivalua testattiin, jotta korkean käyttölämpötilan tuomat ongelmat saataisiin minimoitua.
3D-tulostamista varten potkurin geometriaan tehtiin muutoksia, jotta potkuri olisi mahdollista tulostaa yhden suuttimen tulostimella.
The objective of this thesis was to test 3D printing and epoxy casting of the plastic propellers used by W-Rix Ltd. 3D printing was tested so the testing of geometry changes in the propeller would be cheaper and faster as well as the small-scale manufacturing of the propellers would be cheaper. Epoxy casting was tested so the problems caused by high operating temperatures could be minimized.
For 3D printing, changes were made to the geometry of the propeller to allow the printing of the propeller with a single nozzle printer. The propeller was divided in-to parts that would lock together after assembly.
For epoxy casting, a polyurethane mold was cast from the original propeller into which high temperature resistant epoxy was cast.
The result was an easy-to-print propeller model that could be printed on the most affordable class of 3D printers. The epoxy propeller was also completed and sent to the customer for testing purposes.
