Tutkimus toteutettiin kyselytutkimuksena Google Forms -lomakkeella.
Mukana on kuitenkin sellaista osaamista, jota työnantajat eivät pitäneet tärkeänä. Toisaalta osa tärkeänä pidetystä osaamisesta kuuluu ainoastaan valinnaisiin tutkinnon osiin, jolloin opiskelija voi mahdollisesti jäädä ilman tätä osaamista. Lisäksi lähes yhdeksän kymmenestä työnantajasta oli kiinnostunut tarjoamaan koulutussopimuspaikkoja opiskelijoille. The Finnish National Agency for Education defines the basics of the vocational upper secondary qualifications, which contain the skills requirements that have to be completed and should meet the working life needs. The aim of the present master’s thesis was to study whether the basic skills requirements of electricians and automation assemblers correspond to those of the trade and industry in the Turku region. In addition, the intention was to explore the willingness of companies to provide training jobs and apprenticeship jobs.
The survey was conducted by distributing a Google Forms questionnaire. Seven key areas of the vocational upper secondary qualification in electrical engineering and automation technology were included in the study and the survey questions were derived from them. The material obtained was analyzed by quantitative and qualitative methods.
The results show that the skills requirements for both the electrician and automation assembler qualifications correspond well to the needs of working life. However, on the one hand, the employers did not consider all the expertise taught during the studies important and, on the other hand, some of the skills that are considered important are among the optional part of the curriculum, so the student may not acquire this knowledge. In addition, nearly nine out of ten employers were interested in providing training places for students.
