Tiivistelmä
This thesis is a report on the process of creating an Event Organizer’s Manual based on personal experience in event organizing as well as on theoretical background and interviews.
The thesis was commissioned by Vierumäki, Sports Institute of Finland and the author of the report is a student from the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Business who also worked as a seminar assistant for the International Seminar for P.E. teachers 2012.
The seminar is arranged in Vierumäki every two-years and was arranged for the 9th time in the summer of 2012. The target group of the event is physical education teachers all over the world and the aim of the event is to provide teachers with new tools and ideas for their teaching as well as sharing ideas with colleagues.
The report begins with an introduction of the event followed by the objectives, description of the methods used as well as material gathered. Theoretical framework consists of the basic concepts of event management and event planning.
The theory is followed by a description of the personal experience of the author and a detailed description of the creating process of the Event Organizer’s Manual. At the end of the report there is reflection on the manual.
By reflecting on the commissioner’s need of a manual and the created product, the end result can be defined as a useful tool and thus a successful project. The manual introduces plenty of information for the future event organizers of Vierumäki and can be used as a basis for event planning process.
