Tiivistelmä
Työssä käsitellään kehitysvaiheessa olevan tietojärjestelmän käyttöönottoprojekteja. Työssä on tehty kirjallisuuskatsaus käyttöönottoprojekteista. Tutkimuksessa on perehdytty kuuteen tietojärjestelmän käyttöönottoprojektiin, joista aineisto on kerätty osallistuvalla havainnoinnilla.
This thesis studies the implementation of software when the implemented software is in its development phase. The thesis is done by literature review and qualitative research. The empirical data was collected through participant observation. The qualitive research involved six different implementation projects. In every project in question, the old software was replaced by new software.
The most important research questions in this thesis were, what is the most important content of the implementation project for software supplier and software client (1). In addition, the thesis studied why software implementation projects’ lead-times are aimed to be kept as short as possible (2). Responses were searched from the literature and qualitative research.
As a result of this thesis, a check list for the case company was formed containing details that need to be made clear in certain stages of the implementation projects. In addition to that, it was noticed that there is no one significant single matter in a project model that determines the success of a implementation project. The key success factor for a successful project and shortening of its lead-time is the understanding of details on a deep enough level. The lead-time of a project is the shortest when there are no major surprises during the project. Another detected success factor was that the project scope should not be allowed to inflate.
