Laitesovellustutkimus on aloitettu selvittämällä, mitkä yritykset valmistavat etenkin valokaarta prosessin lämpöenergian lähteenä hyödyntäviä laitteistokokonaisuuksia.
The topics of this Bachelor’s thesis are wire-based directed energy deposition processes and especially a research and comparison between commercialized equipment based on the wire-ded process technologies. The aim in this study is to bring a reference and base information of the subject into a possible machine investment project involving LUT University’s Laser Processing and Welding Technology laboratories.
A research of the general features and different technologies of directed energy deposition has been implemented as a literature review. The actual research of the machinery available on the market has started with sorting out the companies providing products mainly using arc as a thermal source. The criteria of the material usage is that the metallic material should be brought into the process in a wire form. The first step in contacting the companies has been done by an email approach. After getting a contact, all the information has been gathered from the manufacturer’s marketing and technology brochures, email conversations and Microsoft Teams -meetings with representatives from the companies mentioned in the research.
The comparison and research of the properties between different machines answers the research questions and fulfills the objective of the thesis. The most important conclusions in the thesis work are the extensive dividing of the companies’ procedures in the area of standardized production and customer oriented tailoring of the products, the differences between the properties of the machines, common material usage options, the attitudes towards the development and upgrading of technologies and the development and growth of the market in the past and at present.
