Toiminto on ohjelmoitu tulkitsemaan mallissa olevat valmistukselliset haasteet. Ohjelmiston antamat huomautukset kerätään ja analysoidaan. Huomautuksien avulla tulkitaan mallinnetun tuotteen valmistettavuutta.
Tutkimuksessa esitetyssä rakenteessa on löydetty kotelon ongelmalliselle kansirakenteelle vaihtoehtoinen toteutustapa. This research concentrates on a redesign of a satellite clocks casing. The purpose of the redesign is to make it more manufacture friendly. The redesign is based on an existing model of the part and on articles written of the workpiece. The modeling is conducted using 3D-modeling software SolidWorks.
The research starts with introducing the construction of the existing part and collecting the challenges for manufacturing based on the articles. Alternative options for these challenges are introduced and sorted using morphological classification. Suitable options for the construction are scored. The alternative with the most points is chosen for modeling.
After the modeling, the finished model is analyzed using SolidWorks software features. The feature used is programmed to detect challenges for manufacturing in the models formed in the software. The result of this analyze is collected. These results of this analysis are collected and interpreted to be used when the manufacturability of the model is reviewed.
As a result, an alternative solution for the cover of the casing has been found and presented in the resulting model. In addition, other solutions for manufacture problems of the piece are introduced in the paper. However, they are not included in the modelling because of the need for further research concerning these solutions. These solutions include for example the spigot for the resonator puck and the holes needed for connectors.
