This thesis explores usage and potential benefits of using and implementing SAP systems integration at one of the biggest energy companies in world. The size of the company is substantial ranging in more than 5000 employees’ globally making data size transferred internal and external sources considerable. Thus, systems integration plays a very crucial role in Company’s IT environment. Company X is using SAP as main ERP System. Hence, it is significant to use SAP Integration platform for building up internal integrations rather than using other non –SAP platforms which are currently in use.
Hence, thesis explores a qualitative study to evaluate SAP Process Orchestration to help Company to decide whether it can be used as main integration platform. Focusing on SAP to SAP and Non-SAP integrations.
Current platform brings in extra cost specially in terms of licensing, having SAP Process Orchestration it will simplify the structure. SAP is already in use in Company it would significantly play role in reducing cost in terms of licenses being SAP Customer already.
Thesis focuses on the potential benefits of SAP PO usage, Proposal based on Company X to use SAP PO in SAP to SAP and SAP to-non-SAP integrations, also exploring long term benefits in term of both architecture and cost saving when using SAP as main Integration platform.
Additionally, Recommendations are made to Company X to follow latest trends of development when it comes to SAP Road map. Specifically looking into S/4 HANA (In-Memory Computing) which is the next big step when it comes to SAP Implementations by end of this decade.
