Työn tilaajana on Humanistinen ammattikorkeakoulu.
Haastateltaviksi valittiin kahdeksan pirkanmaalaista teatterialan toimijaa. Nämä aineistonkeruumenetelmät valittiin tutkimustyöhön niiden toisiaan tukevan luonteen vuoksi, jotta saatu aineisto antaisi mahdollisimman tarkan ja laajan kuvan erilaisten teatterien toiminnasta Covid-19-pandemian aikana.
Kerätyn aineiston pohjalta tutkimustyön loppuun ollaan kerätty toimivaksi todettuja vaihtoehtoisia teatterien toiminta- ja ansaintamalleja sekä ideoita laajempaa levitystä ja jatkojalostamista varten. Nämä kootut kehittämisehdotukset ovat puhelinteatteri, kirjeteatteri, ikkunateatteri, kuunnelmateatteri. The aim of this thesis was to survey the situation of theater actors in Pirkanmaa during the Covid-19 pandemic and research what kind of alternative operating and revenue models the actors had developed during the pandemic. The study examined how the pandemic affected the actors' theatretical seasons, ticket revenues and employment inter alia.
The thesis also presents innovations implemented in the theater industry abroad and elsewhere in Finland during the Covid-19 pandemic. Examples of operating models have been highlighted in the thesis due to their good reception, innovation or extensive media attention. The aim was to present examples in the thesis in order to get the most comprehensive idea of the possibilities of operating methods that may not have been utilized in Pirkanmaa yet.
The client of the thesis is Humak University of Applied Sciences. Through its assignments Humak has wanted to assist the cultural sector and take societal responsibility.
Theses implemented through these assignments support the cultural sector without putting more pressure and workload on it. This thesis is one of the assignments Humak did in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic in order to support the cultural sector and take societal responsibility.
The data collection methods used in the thesis were an interview conducted as a semi structured thematic interview, a Webropol survey and document analysis. The questionnaire was sent to 57 theater actors in Pirkanmaa out of which 24 responded to the questionnaire.
Eight actors from the theatre industry in Pirkanmaa were selected for interview. These data collection methods were chosen for the research because of their mutually supportive nature, so that the data obtained would provide the most accurate and comprehensive idea possible of the operations of different theaters during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Alternative theater operating and revenue models have been collected and ideas for wider dissemination and further processing have been collected to the end of the thesis based on the collected material. These compiled development proposals are phone plays, letter theater, window theater and audio theater.
