Kloorieteeneillä pilaantunut maaperä ja pohjavesi on mahdollista kunnostaa in situ tapahtuvalla biostimulaatiolla, jossa maaperään syötetään tietynlaisia substraatteja. Tärkeimpinä deklooraus bakteereina pidetään dehalococcoides spp. suvun bakteereita. Ne tarvitsevat välttämättömiä ravintoaineita kasvaakseen, kuten vetyä elektronin luovuttajaksi, asetaattia hiilen lähteeksi, kloorattuja yhdisteitä elektronin vastaanottajaksi ja B12-vitamiinia kasvaakseen.
Kokeet suoritettiin Doranova Oy:n tiloissa anaerobisissa olosuhteissa.
The goal of this thesis was to develop Doranova Oy their own ARD (Anaerobic reductive dehalogenation) substrate which would be as effective or more effective than other commercial substrates on the market. Because chlorinated ethenes are heavier than water it is possible for them to enter the groudwater and thus contaminate it. It is possible to remediate soil and groundwater contaminated by chlorinated ethenes with in situ biostimulation in which certain types of substrates are injected into the soil. The most important bacteria for dechlorination is considered to be Dehalococcoides spp. genus bacteria. They need essential nutrients to grow, such as hydrogen as electron donor, acetate as a carbon source, chlorinated compounds as electron acceptor and vitamin B12 for growth.
The experiments were performed at Doranova Oy’s premesis under anaerobic conditions. In these experiments contaminated groudwater and carefully selected substrates were added to reaction bottles. The dechlorination in reaction bottles was monitored with samples. Samples taken from the reaction bottles were sent to the laboratory for analysis. The result was data which revealed the current chlorinated ethenes concentrations in the reaction bottles.
The results do not show that some substrates were more effective than commercial substrate used. Both experiments had to end 20 days after the start of the experiments due zero sample changes.
