Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön aiheena on koneoppiminen mobiililaitteissa. Mobiililaitteiden kehitys tehokkaammiksi on mahdollistanut koneoppimisen hyödyntämisen niissä entistä paremmin. Mobiililaitteissa koneoppimisella on monia käyttökohteita kuten kuvan, kasvojen ja tekstin tunnistaminen sekä luonnollisen kielen sovellukset.
Työn teoriaosuudessa tutustutaan koneoppimisen teoriaan. Koneoppiminen jaetaan usein kolmeen osa-alueeseen: ohjattu, ohjaamaton ja vahvistusoppiminen. Lisäksi selvitetään koneoppimisen kehittämisen eri vaiheita, kuten datan kerääminen ja esikäsittely, algoritmin valitseminen sekä mallin opettaminen.
Käytännön osassa testataan Googlen Machine Learning Kit:a (ML Kit), joka on ohjelmistokehityspaketti koneoppimiselle mobiililaitteilla. ML Kit:a käytetään koneoppimisen Android-sovelluksen kehittämiseen. Sovelluksen tilaajana toimii LAB-Ammattikorkeakoulun ITKO-hanke.
Tuloksena kehitettiin sovellus, jonka avulla voidaan tunnistaa ITKO:n laitteistoa reaaliaikaisesta kameran videokuvasta, skannata QR-koodeja ja lukea tekstiä. Laitteiden tunnistamista varten opetettiin uusi koneoppimismalli Tensorflow Lite Model Maker -kirjastolla, joka käyttää siirto-oppimista uuden koneoppimismallin opettamiseen. The topic of the thesis is machine learning in mobile devices. The recent improvements in device performance have increased the use of machine learning in mobile applications. It can be used in, for example: image classification, face and text recognition, and natural language processing like speech recognition.
The theoretical part of the work contains an introduction to machine learning theory. Machine learning is often divided into three types: supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning. The process of developing machine learning applications goes from collecting and pre-processing data to choosing an algorithm and finally training and evaluating the machine learning model.
The practical part describes the process of developing an Android application using Google´s Machine Learning Kit (ML Kit), which is a Software Development Kit for machine learning on mobile devices. The application was developed for the ITKO project.
The result of the thesis was an Android application that can identify ITKO's hardware from a live camera feed, scan QR codes, and read text. For the object recognition a new machine learning model was trained with the Tensorflow Lite Model Maker library, which uses transfer learning to teach new machine learning models.
