Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tutkia, miten 12 viikkoa kestävä myofaskiaalinen liikkuvuusharjoittelu vaikuttaa jääkiekkoilijoiden liikkuvuuteen ja nopeaan voimantuottoon. Liikkuvuusharjoittelujakso toteutettiin koeryhmällä, joka koostui Kiekko-Vantaan edustusjoukkueesta. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin yhteistyössä ProFTraining Finland Oy:n kanssa.
Tutkimuksen koehenkilöt (N=21) suorittivat 12 viikkoa ohjattua myofaskiaalista liikkuvuusharjoittelua kaksi kertaa viikossa 30 minuutin ajan.
The purpose of this thesis was to examine how a 12-week training period consisting of myofascial mobility training, would affect the mobility and power production of ice hockey players. The test group consisted of the ice hockey team Kiekko-Vantaa and it was executed in collaboration with ProFTraining Finland Oy.
The test subjects (N=21) took part in 12 weeks of guided myofascial mobility training. Training happened twice a week and lasted for 30 minutes. Measurements were taken before and after the intervention period. The subjects also filled out the starting survey and ending survey on the corresponding days the measurements were taken. The measurements consisted of the Thomas test, rotation of the thoracic spine, seated forward bending and triple jump from standing still. The survey was used to gather information about subjective experiences of the test subjects in relation to the mobility training that was executed during the intervention period. The amount of test subjects who attended the final measurements were (N=13).
According to the results of the study, dynamic myofascial mobility training lasting 12 weeks, increases the range of motion in thoracic spine of hockey players by 11 % (p<0.05) and the mobility of the body’s back line muscles by 30 % (p<0.05). The mobility training did not affect the mobility of the body’s front-line muscles or the power production (p>0.05). The test subjects experienced that the mobility training lowered the chances of getting injured and made recovering faster.
The results are only related to this study and cannot be generalized to universe. This is because there is no control group, and the sample size is small. There needs to be more studies done about the subject, so the generalization could be possible.
