The purpose of this thesis was to prepare a preliminary assignment, a simulation case and a picture book on image communication for simulation teaching in child and adolescent nursing at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. The contents of the simulation case are related to image communication, and the contents have been taken from the vaccination situation, which, according to the client's wishes, is related to the vaccination situation of the public health nurse. The aim was for nursing students to be able to utilise knowledge of image communication and encourage them to use this method of communication as their own tool in the future. The thesis students' own learning goals were to develop in the production of teaching materials, critical information retrieval and time management. In addition, the aim was to deepen one's own expertise in image communication in children's nursing. The project started in November 2019 when the topic was image communication in children's nursing. We got free rein in the design of the thesis. At first we thought of drawing and executing your own picture cards, but this would have done a lot of work and taken time. That's why we ended up looking for picture cards suitable for the story in the Papunet. The project produced a pre-task, simulation case and picture book. In the picture book, we selected colorful and similar images that are suitable from vaccination to collection. The idea was to choose simple images so as not to narrow down too much creative story flow. In January 2020, we started to make a thesis plan. When we made the thesis plan, we looked at the simulation manual and the existing thesis and literature. When we completed the thesis plan, we signed the thesis in August 2020. The thesis was due to be completed in autumn 2020, but the thesis was delayed until February 2021. We asked the client and the supervising teacher for feedback on the output. The output was modified on the basis of the instructions received. Everyone was satisfied with the finished output. Further research ideas in the thesis include the experiences of nursing. Students in image communication and the development of the use of image communication.
