Tiivistelmä
The thesis provides theoretical and practical insights into how competitive intelligence is
applied in businesses and how such a process can be developed. A practical approach is
implemented for a case company that has operations globally in the EMEA, AMER and
APAC regions. The aim of the study is to develop the case company’s competitive
intelligence process and to make the process more organized and systematic.
The thesis was conducted by using secondary data from sources such as organizational
reports, interviews, business textbook and online articles. Research utilized information
regarding the current state of competitive intelligence based on the annual state of
competitive intelligence report published by private organization specialized in competitive intelligence. The practical part of the research was conducted by evaluating and implementing the results of the new competitive intelligence process in the case company. Benefits and further development ideas were discussed with the research manager of the case company.
As the outcome, the process now causes less manual work, and utilizing integrated
applications helps the company to stay organized and to increase interactivity within the
process. The research also suggests further development ideas of the new process that
may be implemented by the case company.
