The purpose of this thesis was to increase knowledge and understanding of issues related to well-being at work and to survey the well-being of the staff of Valkeakoski day care centers at work early childhood education teachers and children’s instructors. The aim was to obtain information e.g. the resilience of day care centers staff at work.
The approach in this development work was a case study. The purpose of the research was to create development ideas. Data were collected on the basis of theoretical data and previous research data, as well as through a survey. The theoretical part focuses on the factors influencing work ability, working life skills, the work of supervisors and increasing well-being at work, eg feedback and rewards. The arguments of the survey were used to examine how the staff experience the work community skills of the work communities, their own coping and the work of the supervisor.
The research part of the thesis began with community brainstorming, where one work community answered the question “Where does well-being at work come from?” With post it notes. We created “rules of the game” for the employees of the day care centers. The actual occupational well-being survey was carried out with an electronic survey. In the spring of 2020, day care centers early childhood education teachers and children’s instructors, through their supervisors, were sent a link to a Google Forms questionnaire with 46 statements. As a result of the thesis, insights were gained for the development of well-being at work.
