Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantaja on Seure Henkilöstöpalvelut Oy.

The change in working life has been discussed extensively in the social and health care sector in recent years. As a result of the transformation of work, working lives through its own transformation and becomes a more versatile way of working. In the current millennium, various atypical forms of work have become more common. There is a growing need for skilled workers to work permanently in the sector, but more and more people want decision-making power and a flexible way of working for themselves and to choose temporary agency work instead of permanent work.
The purpose of the thesis was to find out what reasons lead health and social care professionals to move from permanent work to temporary agency work or to temporary agency work in general. The aim of the thesis was to produce information on professionals applying for temporary agency work and what makes temporary agency work an attractive way to work. The aim was also to describe the well-being of temporary agency workers and the connection between their perceived well-being at work and the work done. The client of the thesis is Seure Henkilöstöpalvelut Oy, Finland.
The thesis used a quantitative research method and carried out an electronic survey for Seure’s temporary workers in the social and health care sector. The survey examined the reasons for leading professionals in the health and social services sector to move from permanent work to temporary agency work or to temporary agency work in general. In addition, the question was asked how temporary agency workers experienced their own well-being at work.
The survey was conducted in May – June 2020 and the response rate was 26. According to the research results, the reasons for changing permanent work to temporary agency work or for temporary agency work in general are similar. The main reason is considered to be one’s own decision-making power and, in a way, freedom to set one’s own working/ leisure time. The next most common reasons were the inflexibility of permanent employment, willingness to change and wage levels. The majority of respondents felt that their well-being at work was good, and the most influential factor was freedom of choice.
