Asumisympäristöjen on tuettava ikäihmisten kotona asumista. Henkilöstöresurssien lisääminen on tämän hetken työvoimapulassa rajoittunutta.
Western people are continuously expected to live longer and longer. Elderly people want to and are expected to live independently in their own homes. More and more people need health care and nursing services provided to their homes. Municipal nursing services are facing their limits both in staff and economic resources in the growing need of services. In order to be able to face the growing demand health care and district nursing processes must be continuously investigated and developed. It is essential to look for different ways to perform and deliver the service. The role of wellfare and care technology is expected to be crucial in facing this challenge.
The aim of this study was to to examine how digital solutions in district nursing influence on the work autonomy of nurses. The aim also was to gather information concerning digital solutions in district nursing and find out what kind of benefits they bring into organising home care for the elderly. The purpose of the study was to utilise the information gained in leadership and management of district nursing in EKSOTE. The data was collected in a literature review and analysed with content analysis. The study is linked to AATOS project. The data in the literature review as well as in the results are processed according to the three research questions in the study.
Based on the results of the literature review it can be said that technology has already become a crucial part of nursing and district nursing both in Finland and globally. New technologies are rapidly changing the practice. The demand for new innovations and developmentments is continuous. Not only the service prodviders are expecting the new digital innovations, but the users as well. The users expect to be more indepentent and have better quality of life with wellfare technology. The nursing staff find the technology very usefull. On the other hand, technology can cause unpredictabilities in work if it does not work properly. Digital solutions will create new ways to perform district nursing in the future. Digital solutions will also involve the patient him/herself more into his/her care.
