Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää osakesäästötilin avanneiden yksityishenkilöiden sijoituskäyttäytymistä koronapandemian aiheuttaman kurssiromahduksen aikana vuoden 2020 ensimmäisellä puolivuotiskaudella.
Tutkimuksen teoriaosiossa käsiteltiin sijoitussuunnitelman laatimisessa huomioon otettavia asioita, varautumista erilaisiin kurssilaskuihin, osakesäästötilin rakennetta sekä sen keskeisiä eroavaisuuksia perinteiseen arvo-osuustiliin.
Tutkimusmenetelmäksi valittiin määrällinen eli kvantitatiivinen tutkimus. Tutkimus toteutettiin laatimalla standardoitu kysely.
The purpose of the thesis was to find out how the market crash caused by the coronavirus pandemic affected investment behavior. The target audience consisted of people who had opened an equity savings account in the first half of 2020.
The theoretical part of the thesis was based on stock investing. The definite areas of focus were equity savings accounts and investment plans. The chosen areas of focus described the processes of creating an investment plan, preparing for different market crashes, the structure of the equity savings account and its key differences compared with a traditional book-entry account.
The thesis was conducted by using quantitative research methods. The data was collected from the target audience during the thesis by an online survey.
The research results of the survey were analyzed as a whole. In addition, the results were compared within the group using filters, such as the respondents’ age and investment experience.
According to the research results less than half (44 %) of the respondents had created an investment plan for themselves. Despite that, the majority of the respondents were only slightly concerned about the market crash. The investment behavior of the respondents correlated with the low level of concern. A significant proportion (60 %) of the respondents bought more stocks and just 2 % ended up only selling them during the market crash.
Despite the number of created investment plans, the private investors did not panic in their investment behavior due to the market crash caused by the coronavirus.
