Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa Naiserityisyys asunnottomuustyössä -hankkeelle tietoa siellä toimivan kokemusasiantuntijakehitystyöryhmän jäsenten kokemuksista ryhmässä toimimisesta. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin yhteistyössä Y-säätiön koordinoiman NEA-hankkeen osatuottajan, Diakonissalaitoksen kanssa. NEA-hankkeen kokemusasiantuntijakehitystyöryhmä toteuttaa monitoimijaista yhteiskehittämistyötä ja
se on aloittanut toimintansa syksyllä 2019.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena ja aineisto kerättiin teemahaastattelun menetelmää hyödyntäen. Haastattelut toteutettiin parihaastatteluina kahdella eri
ABSTRACT

The aim of this thesis was to provide our partner, the NEA project, with information
about the experiences of members working in the expert-by-experience group of the
project. The thesis was carried out in cooperation with the Deaconess Foundation, one
of the actors involved in the NEA project coordinated by the Y-Foundation. The expert-by-experience group was founded as part of the NEA project's principle of implementing and increasing women’s participation in influence work and it began operating in the autumn of 2019.
This thesis was a qualitative study and the material of the thesis was gathered by using
a semi-structured interview technique. The interviews were held on two different
dates. We interviewed a total number of four (4) members of the expert-by-experience
group. Each pair interview included two (2) people and were recorded. The recorded
interview material was transcribed and analyzed by using a content analysis. The results of the thesis were divided into three categories: experiences of the group’s functioning, perceived change in the group members’ role from being a user of the services
into becoming a developer of the services, and group members’ development ideas.
Through the results of the interviews, it can be stated that the project’s development
group activity increased its members’ experience of participation, which can be seen
in their increased confidence, sense of belonging to the group and sense of responsibility for the work. The work and the gained salary or reward reduced stress as there
was less worry about livelihood than when relying on financial benefits. The members
described themselves as equal members of the work community in the project and felt
that their voices and experiences are being heard. Through gaining respect and becoming heard by other professionals and officials, some members’ previous opposition to
the services had changed after they gained a better understanding of the services. The
members’ social network has also grown through the group’s operation and the cooperation between many organizations was described as the group’s strength. The members felt that it was of great importance that women specific services are being developed by women and for many of the members it served as an incentive to participate
in the group’s operation. The group suggested a development idea in the internal communication challenges of the group. As a development proposal, we suggested that the
group would start using an electronic calendar.
