Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyö liittyy kiinteästi taiteelliseen opinnäytetyöhön Kamarasta. Kamarasta oli neljäkymmentäviisi minuuttia kestävä tarinallinen sirkusesitys, jossa toimin ohjaajana, dramatisoijana, koreografina ja lavastaja. Esitys valmistettiin ohjaajavetoisesti ryhmänohjaamisena huomioiden esiintyjien taiteellinen osaaminen suhteessa ohjaajan kokonaistaiteelliseen vastuuseen.
The thesis is closely related to the artistic thesis Kamarasta. The piece was a forty-five-minute storytelling circus performance in which the writer acted as a director, dramatist, choreographer, and director. The performance was directed by the director as group supervision, taking into account the performers' artistic competence concerning the director's overall artistic responsibility. This written section is a description of what the production process of the performance was like from the initial idea of the performance to the premiere from the director’s perspective.
The material of the knowledge base is experiential outputs, which consist of notes, rehearsal plans, notations, and video recordings created during the creative process. The material is analyzed with various art theories and practices that have influenced the outcome, such as setting the story of the performance in the model of Freytag’s classical drama. The writing proceeds from the design stage to the performances, describing practical the methods chosen for the movement language, performance, visuality, and implementation of the presentation, while at the same time evaluating their functionality. In the end, the Kamarasta performance was presented and evaluated with the audience's feedback and the evaluations of the supervising teachers.
In the conclusions, the thesis answered the research question, evaluating the outcome and the process. The result of the performance had been pleasant, for both the audience and the director. The steps that made a significant contribution to success are identified. Success was influenced by the bifurcation of the training period, the text-training season, and the scene training season. The good result of the performance was influenced by a large amount of design. The written thesis will help other performing arts students in their directing work.
