Tiivistelmä
Neuropsykiatrisiin häiriöihin kuuluvat muun muassa aktiivisuuden ja tarkkaavuuden häiriö AD/HD, autismikirjon häiriö sekä Touretten oireyhtymä. Neuropsykiatrisesti oireilevien henkilöiden arjessa esiintyy erilaisia haasteita, joihin he tarvitsevat tukea elämän eri vaiheissa.
Neuropsychiatric disorders include for example AD/HD (activity and attention deficit disorder), autism spectrum disorder, and Tourette's syndrome. There are various challenges in the daily lives of people with neuropsychiatric symptoms for which they need support at different stages of their lives. An important aspect of this development work is the view of occupational therapy that by enabling activities and supporting meaningful and functional everyday life, inclusion can be promoted in different everyday operating environments.
The purpose of the development work was to produce a material bank as a part of the service package of the City of Kaarina's early support model, which provides early support for people with neuropsychiatric symptoms and their close associates. The aim of the material bank is to provide high-quality, practical and printable material to support various everyday situations, as well as easy-to-understand information related to neuropsychiatric disorders. The material bank contains information sections, practical tools for various everyday situations, information on aid and useful links. The content of the material bank is aimed at neuropsychiatrically symptomatic clients, their close associates and professionals who encounter them at work. The material bank will be published on the City of Kaarina's website and the material bank will be updated and supplemented with new material in the future.
The theoretical part of the report is based on the theory used in compiling the material bank on neuropsychiatric disorders, executive function, interaction, sensory processing, emotional skills, and strengths and self-esteem. As source of information for this development work we used electronic databases, literature related to the topic, open interviews, expert lectures and an e-mail survey for occupational therapists.
