Kerätyn aineiston avulla nousi esille, mitä asioita pienempikokoisen järjestön kannattaa huomioida toiminnassaan silloin, kun he haluavat aloittaa uuden kansainvälisen toiminnan. Näitä olivat varma eteneminen, verkostojen tärkeys sekä nuorten yksilöyden huomioon ottaminen. Näiden pohjalta keräsin kehitystyöhöni käytännön vinkkejä siihen, kuinka toimia tukevana järjestönä Euroopan solidaarisuusjoukkojen projekteissa. The subscriber of this thesis was an international youth organisation StepEurope that influences locally in Turku. StepEurope has provided different kinds of multicultural and international activities to the local youth both locally and internationally. During spring 2019 they got an accreditation to act as an supporting organisation in European solidarity corps. This means that in addition to the short-term youth exchanges and projects they already were able to offer, they are now also eligible to send young volunteers across Europe for even upto one year.
However, this accreditation in a small and fresh organisation needs a bit more dedication and planning. The aim of this thesis was to create an operations model for starting the European solidarity corps process to send volunteers abroad. The model was meant to take the resources of a smaller organisation under consideration.
The final product of the thesis is a two-piece manual for beginners; consisting of a compact starting guide and a checklist for the people working on European solidarity corps. Where as the Guide will show step by step how the process will proceed and show some alternatives to act, the checklist will be a very specific list of all the practicalities that need to be taken care of. Together they go hand-in-hand. The guide will be made into a video format but this thesis will only contain the draft.
Methods used in this study were benchmarking an organisation with an established standing for sending young volunteers abroad, interviewing the youth that has taken part in volunteering and analysing documents from trainings about European solidarity corps.
The results of the study show how one can start small, yet end up successful. It also shows the importance of both national and international network as well as the importance of taking the individuality of each volunteer under consideration throughout the process
