Päähenkilön tarina on draamallisen hierarkian keskiössä, joten draaman mallista poikkeaminen purkaa tietyllä tavalla näyttämöllistä hierarkiaa.
The terms drama and theatre are used in the western theatre discourse sometimes imprecisely or even as addressing the same thing. My aim is to perceive the differences in spectatorship of a performance built on original aristotelian dramaturgy of causal logic and differing from this theoretical formula creating a postdramatic dramaturgy. The question is in a more simplified manner about interrupting the fictive entity of drama and inspecting the influence in the performers stage presence and a different spectatorship. This kind of a stage presence interrupts the spectator’s semiotic associations and exposes the performer in a more present manner. Simultaneously the term drama gets tracked down to a theoretical unit that has been evolving through time in the wide spectrum of theatre.
Drama is built on the protagonist’s narrative in a hierarchical way supporting the main plot so differing from the dramatic formula influences on or deconstructs the dramaturgy on the stage. This leads to a similar hierarchical change inside the whole process of creating a performance because the narrative loses its authoritative superiority. The lack of hierarchy calls for a change in working methods and unleashes space and opportunity for artistic self-direction and equality.
Differing from the drama based causal logic and entity creates in a way gaps in the stage dramaturgy, the entity of theatrical elements in the performance. The layout brings up the question about the influence of these gaps and the more present performer in the spectatorship of the performance. Throughout the theory of drama and postdramatic theater and stage hierarchies I’m addressing the whole question of differing from the drama formula also as breaking default values and creating a political spectatorship. The question about the political aspect and default values binds itself into timely and societal issues in general. Resulting from this the theoretical pondering brings up a timeless conflict in the philosophy of theatre, the conflict between status quo and the effort to create change.
