The purpose of this thesis was to create a practical and functional guidance on daily rhythm and nutrition for the mothers of child protection services unit Haikaranpesä.
The goal of this project was to raise the mothers ́ awareness about the significance and effects of a regular daily rhythm and nutrition on their own well-being. The aim was to also further the mothers ́ knowledge and awareness on children’s healthy nutrition in order to encourage and motivate them to make more beneficial nutritional choices in everyday life. Prior research has shown that nutritional routines and habits formed in early childhood will likely affect the choices made in adulthood.
The theoretical frame of this thesis consists of the concepts of everyday life of families with children and beneficial eating habits which include the Finnish Food Authority ́s nutrition recommendations for Finnish families. The practical part of this thesis con- sisted of compiling the theoretical part, the actual execution and the evaluation of the process.
The practical and functional part of the thesis was completed in two phases. The first phase was mainly informative and the latter practical. A written feedback was col- lected at the end of the practical phase and it was used to evaluate the successfulness of the project.
