Opetusvideo on tarkoitettu laboratorion henkilökunnan käyttöön.
There are over 20,000 prosthetic-joint surgery made in Finland annually. If successful, the surgery will significantly improve the patient's quality of life, but sometimes the joint which is operate may become inflamed. Biofilm, which is a bacterial protective structure, may be formed on the surface of the foreign substance in the infection of the foreign material. If the type of bacteria growing in the biofilm cannot be determined by conventional methods of bacterial culture, the removed joint can be treated by the sonication method, i.e. the ultrasonic purification method to determine the source of the infection.
The purpose of this thesis was to make the educational video of bacterial cultivation a sonic method describing the work flow. The educational video is intended for use by laboratory staff. This kind of samples rarely takes place in the laboratory, and it is easy for the biomedical laboratory scientist to repeat the working method step by step through the video tutorial. The aim of the thesis is to improve the skills of biomedical laboratory scientists and to harmonize operating methods.
Good educational video takes into account of the target group and is also logical and clear. In the video work flow filmed in step by step. There was no sound attached to the video, but the instructions were short texts in the description. This way the potential background noise does not make it difficult to watch the video. Output of this study was about six minutes long video. By received feedback the video was line with the objectives, clear and intuitive.
