Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli isä-lapsitoiminnan kehittäminen Kouvolan alueelle. Tarkoituksena oli saada alueella asuvilta isiltä tutkimuskyselyllä tietoa, onko vertaistuelliselle isä-lapsitoiminnalle tarvetta ja minkälaista toiminta olisi sekä mikä olisi toiminnalle sopiva ajankohta. Kyselyn lisäksi järjestettiin kaksi isä-lapsitoiminnan pilotointikertaa. Toiminnan mainonta kohdennettiin 1-5-vuotiaiden lasten isille.
The necessity of a father-child activity locally in the Kouvola area was surveyed in the development work. The objective was to gather information through an anonymous webropol survey with three main questions. Is a supporting father-child activity group needed? What kind of activity participants would like to have? What would be the best time to participate in the activity? The activity was advertised to fathers and their children from age 1 to 5 and a test group met two times. Besides the main objective there was also an aim to estimate how well the different marketing channels worked for advertising the activity. All the information was utilized in order to start a new father-child support group in the Kouvola area. Considering our observations, the need for a father-child activity arises from the fathers´ low participation in child health care and family-center activities. The development work was based on earlier research information and additionally our conversations with the project partners shed further light on the need for peer support.
The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare Kouvola local association works as an mandator and the family center of Keltakangas as an affiliate. The survey was implemented using quantitative methods and the interviews were carried out by qualitative methods. The outcome showed that there was a need for a father-child activity in the Kouvola area. Fathers would like to have an active group where they can have sporting events like camps and trips with their children. According to the fathers the best time to organize these events would be weekends and evenings. The social media was a great way to advertise the group although the traditional channels like noticeboards and newspapers still had a steady coverage. According to the research, the marketing of the activity should also be targeted to mothers. The fathers of the test group showed their interest in the continuation of the activity and hoped for more participants in the future. Valuable knowledge was gathered, and a core group was established as a result of the development work.
