Haastattelut toteutettiin maaliskuun 2019 aikana.
Osallisuuden kokemuksen muodostumiseen vaikuttavat monet eri asiat. The idea for this thesis was born during my training at the ITU2 project in Rajakylä. The project has started the 1st of August 2017 and its main objectives are to build a new area-based acting concept, to increase inclusion among the citizens of the area, to increase vitality of the area and to improve tidiness and safety of the area. The target group of the project is unemployed people and people outside the working life.
The objective of the thesis was to provide information on what kind of experiences of inclusion the participants have in the project activities and to assess their satisfaction with the activities and how to develop the activities with inspiration to satisfy their needs better. The activities of the ITU2 project has not been studied. In the research, the inclusion and inspiration have been examined from the view of social pedagogy, which was centred around the relationship between an individual and a community.
The thesis is a qualitative research and the research material was collected through a theme-based interview. Six persons aged between 19 to 63-year-olds participated in the interviews. They were current participants of the project and a part of the target group. Theme-based interviews were made in March 2019.
There are many different things that have an effect on the formation of an inclusive experience. Participation is a beginning, but an inclusive experience needs opportunities for action and investing from both an individual and other members of the community and equal opportunities to influence the activities of the community together with other members of the community. The results of the research indicate that the experiences of the interviewees were overall very positive of the activities of Rajakylä´s living room. The main things that influenced their experiences of inclusion were employees´ actions and the interaction between the members of the community. The similarity of the values between the interviewees and the community committed the interviewees to the community activities. The interviewees experienced that participating in the activities brought new content and structure in their daily lives and affected their well-being positively by increasing their good mood. They felt they had got the support and help they needed through the employees.
