Tiivistelmä
Tämä opinnäytetyö koostuu kirjallisesta ja taiteellisesta osuudesta. Taiteellinen osuus on Ramiron rooli W.A. Mozartin oopperassa La finta giardiniera. Ooppera esitettiin Turun Sigyn-salissa 5.–9.4.2019.
Kirjallisen opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on tutkia YouTuben opetusvideoiden kautta tapahtuvaa laulun itseopiskelua vertailukohtana perinteiseen kontaktiopetukseen pohjautuva laulunopiskelu.
Opinnäytetyössä pyritään vastaamaan seuraaviin kysymyksiin: Mikä merkitys opetusvideoiden käytöllä on laulunopiskelussa? Voiko oppia kokonaisvaltaisesti laulamaan ainoastaan hyödyntämällä opetusvideoita?
This thesis consists of an artistic and a written part. The artistic part is the role of Ramiro in W.A Mozart’s opera La finta giardiniera. The performances were held at the Sigyn Hall in Turku during 5th – 9th of April 2019.
The purpose of the written part of this thesis is to explore the self-instructive learning method through YouTube teaching videos about learning to sing. The perspective is the significance of interaction between the teacher and the student in the learning process of singing. Much study has not yet been made about learning to sing via YouTube teaching videos.
Nowadays you can learn almost anything watching YouTube videos. There are a lot of videos and different subject channels about singing and teaching singing available. Self-instructing in singing has become a phenomenon in the “do it yourself” -video categories. In a way YouTube has become the modern equivalent to traditional self-instruction guide books.
This written thesis attempts to answer the following questions: What is the significance of teaching videos in the learning process of singing? Can you learn to sing holistically using only YouTube teaching videos? In which ways could it affect one’s development in singing in the long run?
This thesis contains singing teacher and vokologue Maarit Aura’s interview as well as an experiment with a singing student who followed a YouTube video singing lesson. Her observations of following instructions from a video singing lesson were analyzed from the contact teaching point of view.
The beneficial aspects and the weaknesses of YouTube teaching videos are discussed and lastly the features of a successful YouTube video on teaching singing are described.
