Tiivistelmä
The customs are needed to bring security to the supply chain and to control the flow of
goods in and out of countries. Import and export processes can be time consuming and
as the world gets more international, the need for these procedures increases. However,
there are ways to make the processes faster and smoother via different kinds of statuses.
The purpose of this study is to find out what kind of benefits and demands AEO status
can offer for the case company Inex Partners Oy. The international reputation of the company also gets more important as the collaboration between countries increases. The
AEO status promises to make working with the customs smoother and faster, increase
the safety of the global supply chain and increase the reputation of the companies that
own the status.
The aim of the study is to find out the possible benefits and demands that AEO status can
offer for the case company Inex Partners Oy. The objective is to offer some recommendations for the case company about how they should prepare if they choose to apply for the
status as well as what kind of benefits and demands it can offer for the company.
The thesis is conducted deductively, and qualitative research approach will be used in the
research. Primary data was gathered from interviewing companies who have the AEO
status. Secondary data was collected from various electronic sources including Finnish
customs, European Commission and AEO guidelines and they are meant to support the
primary data.
The research shows that the status can offer many different direct and indirect benefits,
but on the other hand, has some demands that must be fulfilled and can cause trouble for
the companies that have not prepared accordingly. The recommendations for the companies are aimed to prepare the company properly for the application process as well as the
time after the company has gotten the status.
