palvelusta.
ajatteluhatun metodia. Projektin edetessä toimeksiantajalle palautetaan
kaksi erillistä välikatsausmateriaalia, joista saatujen kommenttien pohjalta
muovataan lopullinen konsepti.
Lopputuotoksena on konsepti lähitulevaisuuden rautakaupasta, johon
The retail trade is changing and thereby the hardware trade is also
reforming. This thesis studies the hardware stores, their current state and
what they could be like in the near future. The objective is to respond the
assignment of the client and create a near-future hardware store concept.
The project is launched with an excursion to two of the largest hardware
stores in Kuopio where observations are made about the functionality of
the store premises, the layout of the departments, displays, atmosphere
and service. Thereafter the hardware store business and industry and the
factors that influence them are being studied. In addition, the difference
between hardware stores and what needs they currently meet are being
looked at.
Later on the topic is approached from the perspective of customer
experience, range and technology, considering what their role in the
hardware stores of the future could be. Edward de Bono’s method of Six
Thinking Hats is being used when going into the brainstorming process. As
the project progresses, two separate interim review materials are given to
the client and based on the feedback received the final concept is finalized.
The final product is the concept of a near-future hardware store which
includes the layout of the store, its departments and operations, and
what products and services are offered by the store. The store utilizes
new innovations that make it easier for the customer to run errands and
for the staff to do their job. The customer’s purchasing experience is also
being improved and the process becomes smoother. In the conclusion, the
progress and the results of the project are analysed and also the group’s
capabilities to complete similar work in the future are assessed.
