Tiivistelmä
The core of this Bachelor's thesis report is the export possibilities of baler twine and net wrap on the Russian market. The basic idea is to look for new opportunities and ideas for exporting agricultural products to Russia. The Russian government considers agricultural development as an important growth indicator, and has supported farmers for many years through different subsidy programs. On the other hand, the Finnish government together with the EU supports exporting companies by arranging training and export trips to Russia.
To start with, the thesis will explain the Russian agricultural market, tell about its history, developments and the influence of the government on these processes. The thesis continues with baler twine and net wrap local competition, demand, price level, and import opportunities. There are several different baler twine producers in Russia. Some of them are producing good quality baler twine with modern equipment, but they do not produce enough baler twine to fulfil the growing demand.
At the end of the thesis, export challenges and possibilities for solving them will be ex-plained. There is a brief description of the characteristics of Russian agriculture, payment times, and export insurance. During the writing process local entrepreneurs and international professionals from Finland and Russia were interviewed. Some examples of official export documents used in international trade are included.
