Tiivistelmä
Syftet med undersökningen var att undersöka hur vårdare inom psykiatrin upplever att samarbetet mellan polisen och psykiatrin fungerar i Vasa, Finland. Frågeställningar som söktes svar på i undersökningen var: Hur upplever vårdare inom psykiatrin att samarbetet mellan polisen och psykiatrin fungerar? Hur upplever vårdare att samarbetet kunde utvecklas?
Som metod i undersökningen användes fenomenografi, som gick ut på att ta reda på vårdares uppfattningar om samarbetet mellan polisen och psykiatrin. Tre vårdare inom psykiatrin i Vasa intervjuades, och även artiklar om ämnet samlades in. En innehållsanalys gjordes av materialet som samlades in. I den teoretiska bakgrunden behandlades relevanta begrepp för ämnet, dessa begrepp var: vårdare, psykiatri och samarbete. I den teoretiska bakgrunden behandlades även artiklar inom ämnet, samt olika psykiska störningar.
I resultatet framkom det att vårdare inom psykiatrin i Vasa, upplever att samarbetet mellan polisen och psykiatrin i allmänhet fungerar bra. En del vårdare ansåg dock att samarbetet kunde utvecklas och öka. Förslag på utveckling inom samarbetet var bland annat: mer kontakt med varandra, skolningar för både poliser och vårdare inom psykiatrin samt en ökad förståelse för varandras arbeten, genom att besöka varandras arbeten. I artiklarna framkom det att samarbetet mellan polisen och psykiatrin är av stor vikt, för att bemötandet av personer med psykiska störningar ska fungera. I artiklarna nämndes även skolningar av poliser i bland annat psykiska störningar, för att förbättra bemötandet av personer med psykiska störningar. The purpose of this study was to examine, how nurses in psychiatric facilities feel that the collaboration between the police and mental health agencies works in Vaasa, Finland. Questions to be answered in the study was: How does nurses in psychiatric facilities feel that the collaboration between them and the police works? In what way do the nurses feel that the collaboration could be developed?
Fenomenography was used as a method in the study, and the purpose of it was to examine how nurses feel about the collaboration between the police and mental health agencies. Three nurses working in psychiatric facilities in Vaasa was interviewed, and articles in the subject was also collected. A content analysis was made of the material that had been collected. In the theoretical background, relevant concepts where discussed such as: nurses, psychiatry and collaboration. In the theoretical background, articles and different types of mental disorders where also discussed.
The result showed that nurses working in psychiatric facilities in Vaasa feel that the collaboration with the police in general works. Some of the nurses feel that the collaboration needs to develop and grow. Suggestions for developing the collaboration were: more contact with each other, training for both police and nurses in psychiatric facilities and an increased understanding for each other’s work, this by visiting each other’s workplaces. The articles showed, that collaboration between police and mental health agencies is of great value to meet the needs of a person with mental disorder. The articles also showed that training in mental disorders is needed for the police to improve treatment of a person with a mental disorder.
